Killer PLL Book #6 by Sara Shepard Review

We’re back. Surprised? Didn’t think so lol. I can’t believe I only posted the review of book five last week…it feels like so long ago but that’s probably due to the heat wave.

But yes here we are another PLL book and the girls are up to their usual drama. Or lack thereof. I feel like so much was going on in this book but not a lot is that important?

For example, Hanna and Kate fighting for Mike Montgomery’s attention. It was fun but it didn’t add much to the story, though that could be said about Emily’s relationship in the last book lol. So yeah, let’s start today with Hanna’s thing.

I honestly was just surprised that of all the boys Kate and Hanna chose to fight about it was Mike Montgomery. Unlike the TV show, which seemed to have forgotten about Mike except for when he had depression but also dated Mona for 5 minutes, the books mention Mike a lot.

Mike is often hanging around with Noel Kahn and the other lacrosse boys generally being skeevy. And when he goes on dates with Hanna he is not much different but still Hanna has a soft spot for him and she wanted to one-up Kate by stealing Mike away from her.

Like I said, not much of substance here but it’s fun. I can’t figure out if Kate genuinely liked Mike or if it was a ploy but either way we will see how long Hanna and Mike last. We will also see what else Kate has up her sleeve to throw at Hanna because I doubt that’s the last we will hear from her.

Next, we can talk about Emily because again she really has nothing going on. Like her relationship with Isaac is cute and she ends up losing her virginity to him. Which I guess is a big deal but not in the way Spencer losing hers to Wren was because it’s glossed over very quickly.

Basically the drama Emily has is that Isaac’s mom doesn’t like her and is rude to her and when she tells Isaac he doesn’t believe her. Even though this has happened before with one of his exes. Not cute.

Towards the end though Isaac confronted his mom and she told the truth so Isaac tries to apologise and Emily says she can’t forgive him immediately. And I love that because I feel like usually Emily would forgive someone for doing that but he hurt her feelings and she needs time. So I applaud Emily for that. Even if she still runs away from everything and everyone at the slightest hint of trouble. Literally every scene she was practically running out after confrontation lol. Which I mean same but it’s annoying to read.

And then we have Spencer, who is not making smart choices this book. Which I’m sad about because again, this is not the Spencer I expected. I feel like on the TV show Spencer would never have jumped into something like this but then she did pawn her sisters ring that time so I guess that would be similar.

In this book, Spencer meets up with her birth mom, the one the adoption site matched her with. They hit it off immediately and Spencer fantasises about living this glam life in New York with her mom and her rich husband.

Sadly, Spencer jumps the gun on this as she calls up her birth mom’s supposed real estate agent and agrees to buy an apartment over the phone. First off, this is sketch because you NEVER accept an apartment without seeing it first. Second of all, it was wild she just blindly trusted someone she had just met and handed over her account details on the phone. Yikes.

It all comes crumbling down when Spencer goes to New York and finds out the apartment she paid for didn’t exist and the real estate agent’s phone had been disconnected. Poor Spencer.

I honestly just think she was being stupid but it upsets me so much that she literally has nothing good going for her. Someone even painted Killer on her family’s garage door…like why can’t she have anything good? Even Andrew kind of broke up with her after she jumped into this whole new mom thing. I just want something good for her and soon.

Lastly, we have Aria who pulled through with a good storyline. So Aria is hiding out at Meredith and Byron’s because her mom’s boyfriend is creepy and hitting on her but that is a minor thing. Her main thing is she’s been seeing Jason DiLaurentis on the side.

Jason is an interesting one because we still don’t know a lot about him. He’s just kind of dark and broody which is right up Aria’s alley. They talk a little bit about Alison and flirt and kiss and I’m over here in the corner yelling about how inappropriate that is because he’s older than her. Once again, he’s the same age as Ian and Wilden so too old for Aria and it’s gross.

But it doesn’t last long because A tricks Aria into going to Jason’s house when he’s not there and she spies an old yearbook which seems to indicate that Jason and Wilden used to be friends in high school. And Jason catches Aria in his house and is furious. So I think that’s the end of that relationship.

Now that we’ve talked about the girls’ drama let’s talk about Jason, Ian and Wilden. So once the girls find Ian’s body in the woods, they go to get Wilden but when they get back to the woods the body is gone. Classic A.

Once this happens people start thinking the girls are liars. And everyone believes that Ian is still alive and could have possibly escaped Rosewood. The girls refuse to believe this but one night, Spencer gets an IM from Ian on Melissa’s laptop. Spencer pretends to be Melissa long enough to prove if it’s really Ian and she believes it is.

A is also pushing the girls to figure out who the real killer is by trying to send hints. Like a photo of Jenna, Alison and another blonde who everyone assumes is Naomi, one of Ali’s old friends, but they are partially hidden behind a tree so it could be anyone. Though this never goes anywhere.

There is also a lot of evidence of Jason and Wilden working together as Jason had the yearbook note from Wilden and Hanna figured a lot of clues about Wilden that line up with him possibly working with Jason. Plus the fact they used to be friends in high school and were annoyed about something Ian did.

Emily also sees Jason leaving Jenna’s house and he is very angry – I’m not sure what that has to do with anything yet. So there are some mysteries here.

The girls also end up going to the opening of a hotel, the Radley which used to be a mental institution. This is something I thought was SO RANDOM in the TV show and now I see it happened in the books lol. But Emily finds a ledger there and in it is lots of evidence of Jason visiting. So looks like Jason might have been seeing someone there, the girls think he was seeing a therapist but he could have been visiting someone…

And at the end of the book, Ian reveals to Spencer, Hanna and Emily through IM that Wilden and Jason were out to get him and that’s why he disappeared. Just as this happens someone is outside Spencer’s barn and whoever it is, sets fire to the woods behind it.

Aria is on the other side of the fire, she was rushing to Spencer’s with Ali’s time capsule flag because she thought it could have some answers to their mystery. But she sees someone who is trapped in the woods and manages to save them and pull them to safety.

Aria and the mystery girl manage to make it safely and meet up with the others. This is when the girl is revealed to be Alison?! And the book ends lol.

But not without some words from A which make you question everything you just read lol like did A plant the log of Jason visiting Radley? And did they con Spencer out of her money??? Who knows.

I feel like I could have done without the A chapter. I mean the shock value of the girls possibly seeing Alison would have been enough. But I suppose it serves as a nice recap of stuff. Eh, still don’t need it.

So that’s where we are now. I feel like Ian is dead and A is trying to frame Wilden and Jason. Wilden probably did some other shady things but not murder. Jason though idk why A would want to frame him. Unless it’s because he took Ali’s twin’s side over hers…interesting.

I also wonder if A would make their identity known so soon by being the girl Aria saved from the fire. The twin. The girls don’t know Ali had a twin they just think Ali is alive! If it is the twin, but it could be a lookalike.

I just have a lot of questions at the minute but thankfully all I need to do to get them answered is to keep reading. This is not like the TV show where I am waiting each week to ultimately be disappointing. So on we go to book 7!

Wicked PLL Book #5 by Sara Shepard Review

Another PLL book down and I gotta say this one had a lot going on but not a lot at the same time? I mean in terms of the girls and A and secrets there wasn’t a lot but there was a lot in relation to Alison and maybe her not seeming like herself at points. So even if I feel like I don’t have much to write this will probably end up being super long lol.

First off secrets! And we will start with Aria as always lol. I find her secrets are always the easiest to talk about. And Aria’s secret is that her mom’s boyfriend is interested in her. So Aria meets this mysterious artist guy at a gallery and she flirts with him because she doesn’t know who he is and then a few days later he shows up at her door to take HER MOM on a date.

This is when Aria realises the guy is older and she needs to step back. Unfortunately, the guy doesn’t take the hint, one thing leads to another and they end up kissing and Aria is freaked out. This guy then says she’s been giving him mixed signals and it’s so disgusting because he is TWICE HER AGE. Like bro – no get out. He threatens Aria saying if she says anything about him to her mom that he would twist the truth to make it look like Aria was hitting on him. DISGUSTING.

Like Aria just got out of an inappropriate relationship and now this creeper is dating her mom and hitting on her. It is the worst and I thought we were done with these creepy-ass old men but I guess not.

So yes, that’s Aria’s thing.

Then with Emily, she realises sexuality isn’t black and white as she ends up having a crush on this guy she met at church. That’s it lol. Her secret was even easier to talk about than Aria’s omg. So yeah Emily dates this guy, she’s worried that A might tell him the truth but also everyone at her school could also spill the tea so eventually, she just tells him and he’s cool with it and all is fine. It’s a whole load of nothing other than Emily not keeping her cool about anything.

For Hanna, we have her maybe getting back on top of her game as she decides to team up with Kate and tackle Naomi and Riley the mean girls. However, she then ends up second-guessing her new alliance after thinking that maybe Mona had been in contact with Kate before she died and they were somehow always working together to pull her down.

So before Kate can expose Hanna for her secrets, Hanna blurts out to everyone at a party that Kate has herpes. Yikes. This backfires for her though as Kate tells her dad and now Hanna can only ever hang out and associate with Kate, effectively ending her popular girl reign. But also it sounded like Kate had been planning something to take Hanna down, we just don’t know what it was…though it could still come up we’ll see.

Also due to Hanna getting popular again, she ends up ditching Lucas who she was dating for like five minutes. And Lucas sees what she does to Kate at the party and breaks up with her for good. So I guess there’s not much worth mentioning with that. I was hoping they would last longer than that but it makes sense, will they reconcile now that Hanna is forced to hang out with her herpes-ridden stepsister? Who knows.

Kate also says to Hanna she doesn’t have herpes so I don’t even know what she had or maybe she just lied about a secret to get Hanna on side but I imagine Kate has a lot more up her sleeve, so we see how that goes.

Meanwhile, Spencer is dealing with the biggest crisis of them all. After admitting she lied about the Golden Orchid she is failing miserably as all her teachers think she’s lying/cheating on her schoolwork and she’s been kicked out of all her extracurriculars. OH and that’s not all, her grandmother died and left money for all natural-born grandchildren which didn’t include Spencer!

So Spencer is not a true Hastings?! This is exciting because this must mean that the Peter Hastings/Jessica DiLaurentis affair from the TV show came from the books. Though not sure how the fallout of this will go. Spencer signed up for this adoption service that’s supposed to help her find her birth mother and there was a potential match…looking forward to the drama.

I am hoping something good comes Spencer’s way soon though like her parents have barely spoken to her lately and have all but disowned her it’s awful. I guess she is hooking up with Andrew but is it just a hookup? Or will they become the smart power couple they are destined to be? Either way, I just want something good to be going for Spencer lol.

It also amazes me that we are this far into the series and the girls are still not friends. Like on the TV show it was so easy for them to fall back into being friends and hanging out. But I suppose the TV show would have sucked if they never talked or anything, in the book they only talk when they have to which I guess highlights just how much Alison brought them together as they are so different.

Also in this book, Ian’s trial for Ali’s murder is about to begin and he is on house arrest until the trial starts. But he sneaks out to talk to Spencer and he insists that he didn’t kill Alison and that the night in the woods he saw two blondes. One of them was Ali but who was the other one? *cough* twin *cough*. It wasn’t Spencer and she thinks he is making it up but maybe he isn’t…

Ian also says that he had always flirted with Ali but they were never serious about it and then all of a sudden she changed her mind. How strange. Almost as strange as when Alison decided to dump hanging out with her old friends and make friends with Spencer, Aria, Emily and Hanna. Turns out they hadn’t always been BFFs. Along with this, there are other subtle things that prove with Alison had seemed to switch to a different person, like Emily mentioning to her something that happened before they became friends and Alison lying about it…I wonder how long it will take for them to find out the truth.

Probably a long time, I mean new A has just arrived and they are only taking it seriously by the end of the book. At first, they think it is Ian, but then A lures Spencer and the girls out into the woods behind Spencer’s house and they find Ian’s body there. It looks like he’d been strangled to death…so A killed him. Not sure how the police are going to deal with this.

Also, Wilden in this book has been acting sus. He so far hasn’t been totally useless and has actually wanted to help the girls but he seems to be having serious conversations with someone on the phone…not sure what that’s about. But also he must be tortured because the girls seem to have him on speed dial and call him every 5 minutes which is so different from the TV show lol they learnt early on that they couldn’t trust the police on the TV show.

Then finally the only other thing worth mentioning is throughout the book they talk about this Time Capsule day and how Alison had found a piece of the flag to decorate. All the girls had shown up to her backyard to steal it from her but she said it was too late it was already taken. Aria had then headed back into the woods to go to her house when she ran into Jason, he had the flag piece and he gave it to Aria and said nothing. This is weird but obviously significant, especially as Aria had kept the piece and not turned it in. Is there something sus about it? I am not sure but I’ll be interested to see if it comes up again.

And that is us at the end of another PLL book. I am intrigued to see where we go from here. Obviously, Ian’s death is going to be a big thing. I’m wondering if Peter Hastings will be exposed for being the dirty cheater he is and Spencer can get some of her life back. I also hope Emily learns to chill out lol, Hanna will be suffering with Kate and it looks like Aria might move back in with Meredith and Byron to get away from her mom’s creepy boyfriend. So lots of fun things to look forward to.

I’ll probably be back in a few days because I can’t stop reading these – they’re so good. So stay tuned!

Perfect PLL Book #3 by Sara Shepard Review

Here we are book 3 and we have lots to discuss.

First of all, Aria and the fact that her mom can’t stand to look at her after the fact she knew about Byron and Meredith. Gross. I mean I know her mom is mad at her daughter but that’s still your daughter…yet she still says she can’t see Aria for a while so Aria is staying with Sean’s family.

Also, Aria painted a red A on Meredith’s chest for adulterer and I thought that was kind of fun, though nothing comes from it and I thought for sure Byron was gonna freak out about it.

Even though Aria is with Sean that doesn’t stop her feelings for Ezra as she ends up hanging out with him and telling him about her parents and everything going on and they reconnect… but not for long! Because A tells Sean about Aria and Ezra and Sean calls the POLICE. HA.

Yes, that’s right. Ezra Fitz went to JAIL. FINALLY. That’s why I needed to talk about Aria first I needed to get this out because this is what I needed lol. Instead of dragging us through their whole messy-ass relationship, they gave me what I needed. A brief romance that ended with the child predator being arrested. Thank you.

Needless to say that Aria and Sean are over and Aria is a bit homeless now because her mom still doesn’t want to see her, she’s not talking to her dad and her boyfriend has dumped her. Not sure what is next for Aria but I imagine something kooky is just around the corner.

Next, we have Emily, who wanted to tell the police about A. Poor girl. She hasn’t learned that you don’t do something A doesn’t want you to. Well, she finds out the hard way when A outs her to the whole school at a swim meet by posting photos of her and Maya around for everyone to see.

Unlike on the TV show where no one at school really finds out or cares, everyone at school is fetishizing Emily which is pretty gross. Like all the boys wanting to hang out with her to see her kiss a girl. Bleh. But also not surprising.

What’s really gross though is that her parents want her to try a gay conversion therapy camp place. And Emily thinks she should do it and “fix” herself until she realises that’s not how it works and she can’t change who she is. This is not good news for Mrs. Fields who definitely wants her child to be straight and is threatening to send her to Iowa to live with her aunt…

Thank God this is not what happens on the TV show because it would not have gone down well. Obviously, Emily’s mom is upset but she eventually comes around to everything, I don’t know if that will happen in the book though. I’m not sure what will happen for Emily now to be honest but she can’t just be shipped off she’s one of the Liars.

Then there is Spencer who is being made to see a therapist by her parents. Which I think is a good call, though it’s probably not best to be seeing the same therapist as your sister, there is definitely some conflict in that. Not to mention Melissa’s appointment is right after Spencer’s which is again not good.

Spencer finds out that she’s been suppressing horrible memories or traumatic events in her life as she is having a mental block on the fight she had with Alison on the night she disappeared. Through therapy and time she discovers that the night that Ali disappeared, they were fighting over the fact Alison was dating Ian and Spencer couldn’t have him. Yikes.

Alison apparently told Ian to kiss Spencer as a test to see if he would do anything for her and he did. And now Alison was holding her relationship with Ian over Spencer. And Spencer was angry with Alison and so she pushed her, and Alison fell and hit her head. So Spencer realises that she hurt Alison that night but she is sure she didn’t kill her…well she definitely didn’t carry Ali into her backyard and dump her body where the police found it at least.

So that’s one revelation. It’s good to know they kept key points about the girls similar to the TV show. Like the relationship with Ian and Spencer not remembering what happened that night. Though they made Spencer out to be on drugs when that happened on the TV which was a bit extra but there you go.

Anyway, on top of that Spencer and Melissa fight after A lets Melissa know that Spencer stole her essay for the Golden Orchid. Things get heated and Spencer ends up pushing Melissa down the stairs. Which is pretty dark, like I didn’t expect this from her but now her family thinks she’s dangerous. So it’ll be interesting to see where that goes.

And finally, we have Hanna who spends this book trying to prove to Mona they are still besties after she misses her Friendaversary with Mona to be questioned by the police about Alison’s disappearance. Naturally, Mona doesn’t want to listen to any excuses though, and kicks Hanna off of her birthday party court and uninvites her to the party completely.

But this gives Hanna the excuse to make friends with Lucas. Apparently, he was cool in school until the rumour of him being a hermaphrodite circulated around and now he is a nerd. But he is nice to Hanna and he invites her on a hot air balloon ride of all things and they bond haha. Like why would you trust anyone who you are hanging out with for the first time to take you up in a hot air balloon that’s such an easy way to get murdered but anyway Hanna makes it out alive.

Plus after Hanna gets humiliated at Mona’s party her and Lucas have a moment where they makeout so I’m wondering if they start to become a couple or not. Which I would be all for because we never got that on the TV show, and if Caleb is not going to show up I feel like Lucas is a good option for Hanna.

At the end of the book, we have Aria looking at an old video of her and the girls and making the connection between Alison and Ian and then thinking maybe Spencer had something to do with Alison’s death since she was crushing on Ian. And we have Hanna who receives a text from A but this time with a number that she recognises…looks like she knows who A is.

As Hanna is rushing to tell the girls, BAM! She gets hit by a car.

She knew too much. – A

Yep. Can’t say I’m surprised I saw the TV show. Similar events play out in season one at Mona’s birthday. Except for the girls at Camp Mona for her birthday and not at a Planetarium. Though I gotta say that Hanna getting hit by the car in the books makes way more sense than on the TV show.

The TV show says Hanna knew too much because she saw Noel Kahn write on the back of Ezra’s car while he is with Aria. But that ultimately leads nowhere because Noel is not A. But in the book? Hanna definitely knows who the real A is and that’s more interesting.

This book also has an A chapter but it’s not as cringey as the one from the first book. It also confirms that Mona slipped up when texting Hanna and it’s not a tactical slip to make her think A is someone else. So I guess if you were paying enough attention this is where you would figure out who A is, as before this I feel like there are not super strong hints that you can tell who it is?

Also interesting that Mona is pointing the girls toward Spencer killing Alison? Of course, she could have been lurking in the shadows that night and thought it was her. In the book, Spencer gets a text that alludes to the killer being right in front of her, while she’s standing at a mirror. So Mona could have easily seen them fight but not what happened next.

Well looks like all will be revealed in the next book which is exciting! I am looking forward to seeing where things go from here. I like seeing the elements they pulled out from the book for the TV show. I do think some of the things A made the girls do early on in the TV show were harsher than in the book. Particularly in relation to Hanna and bingeing and Sean/Lucas. But we’ll see what happens when new A comes into play.

Flawless PLL Book #2 by Sara Shepard Review

We are back with our second PLL book review! I feel like I couldn’t put it down I just had to know what happened. I also found out that when I had intended to read the series a few years ago, I was actually halfway through this one and stopped. Thank you Kindle app! But also don’t know why I stopped reading, there could be 100s of reasons but part of me thinks maybe it was because of exams and school. But that doesn’t matter now because I finished it this time!

So I think it makes sense to talk about each girl individually and all their drama because the girls are still not close yet. Yes, they discussed A briefly at Alison’s funeral but they are still keeping secrets to themselves. It is only at the end of the novel that they come together as Spencer spills some tea about The Jenna Thing, but we’ll get to that.

First off let’s talk about Aria, I feel like she didn’t have as much going on this time compared to the other girls. I also find her drama kind of boring. Thankfully Ezra Fitz was nowhere to be found in this novel. Not like in the TV show where he shows up at the funeral and he and Aria kiss. Bleh.

In this book, Aria is being pressured by A to tell her mom about the affair that Byron had with Meredith. Like I said I find this kind of boring. I guess because it matches up with the TV show. We know what happens, A writes a letter to Ella and she is devastated and can’t believe Aria knew the whole time. Ouch.

Aside from that, we see Aria get close to Sean Ackard who is Hanna’s ex. This was hinted at on the TV show but Aria shut it down because she could never do that to bestie Hanna. Except in the book she definitely does do that and doesn’t give Hanna a second thought because she and Sean broke up and Hanna and Aria aren’t friends. Savage.

I wasn’t expecting this pairing to happen and I don’t really know if I like it. Plus there’s the whole aspect of the girl code which was so obviously broken. I mean okay Aria and Hanna weren’t close anymore and Hanna had broken up with Sean but I still think it would be weird to date someone that your old friend also dated…but eh it’s high school and as long as Aria is hooking up with people her own age I can’t be mad. I just don’t see it lasting.

Meanwhile, Hanna is dealing with so many more issues. Like the fact she totaled Sean’s car and has to work at Sean’s family’s burn clinic to pay off the debt. Not cute. But still better than the dental clinic she had to work in on the TV show.

But also, Hanna’s dad is back and he has ulterior motives for wanting to see Hanna as he wants to bring his old family and his new family together. Gross.

Similar to the TV show the events unfold with Kate and Isobel as expected. That Kate ends up getting Hanna in more trouble by lying to Hanna and then exposing her terrible behavior to her dad. Except in the TV show, Hanna’s grandmother can see right through that crap. No such luck in the book, Hanna has no one to defend her and it looks like her dad may never speak to her again. Eep.

I honestly hate how none of the characters in this book have good parents lol. Like Hanna’s dad goes AWOL and starts a new life for himself and when he sees his daughter is clearly struggling he just pawns her off to her mother and goes back to his new family. And then Hanna’s mom is obviously a shitty parent who is never present and is sleeping with a cop to keep Hanna out of jail…I suppose that’s a “nice” thing to do for your daughter? But still shitty parenting lol.

Anyway, aside from the Kate drama, Hanna is also bullied by A into confessing to some girls at school that she has been making herself throw up. Which is horrible, but I am also glad they address Hanna’s eating disorder more in the books than in the TV show. Like in the TV show they mention it once and just act like it’s no big deal but it’s clearly still a very real thing in the books and I hope that Hanna can get it under control. I just wonder how far Mona will push her on it.

Next, we have Spencer who is totally head over heels in love with Wren. And it makes me sick. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again he is a full-ass adult who is hooking up with a teenager and it’s DISGUSTING. He calls Spencer not two days after breaking up with Melissa and then the first time Spencer hangs out with him they have sex. Ugh. Hate it.

I can totally see from Spencer’s point of view why she thought this would be okay but Wren is just an adult who took advantage of a child in that situation and it makes me want to barf.

But after Spencer sleeps with Wren she becomes the classic girl in love who is very clingy to Wren since she thought they had an amazing bond since they had sex. And it’s surprising to see Spencer fall like this I feel like in the TV show she is much stronger and the Wren thing doesn’t last as long. But yeah, naturally Wren gets annoyed with all of Spencer’s calls and texts and tells her it’s over.

And to make things worse, Spencer finds out from Melissa that Wren has actually been seeing her too. So not only is Wren scum for sleeping with a minor but he’s also been sleeping with her sister the whole time too! I hate him so much. And in the TV show, he ain’t much better so I guess he did deserve to be turned into a diamond.

I don’t know if we hear much from Wren after this book but I’m hoping not.

Also, Spencer stole her sister’s essays because she was way behind on school work and too busy focusing on Wren. But she also stole the essay on the TV show and if things play out the same then we know she kind of gets away with it. So not super important to note.

Then there’s Emily who is still struggling with her sexuality but she ends up making friends with Toby Cavanagh who saves her from a bad encounter with her ex Ben. Again, these events play out kind of similar to the TV show, except the dance they are at is homecoming and Toby doesn’t die.

I gotta tell you I was not expecting Toby to commit suicide. Like in the TV show he is Spencer’s main love interest and he actually seems like an okay guy! I am surprised they kept him around considering how quickly he is killed off in the books. This makes me wonder if Spencer has a different main love interest in the books or maybe none at all. I think I would prefer if the focus was on the drama and not the relationships so I’m fine if Spencer doesn’t have someone but we’ll see how it plays out.

It also turns out that Toby was the one who forced himself on Jenna and not the other way around like on TV, and that’s why he kills himself. He thought everyone knew his secret and he couldn’t live with it anymore. Even though the secret Emily was confronting him about was actually that she thought he killed Alison. Yikes. This is the tea that Spencer spills to the girls when they find out that Toby has died.

So yeah things took a turn at the end of the novel. All the girls think Toby was A and that they would be free but then Emily gets a text from A telling her “it’s not over till I say it is”. And then that’s the end of the book.

No A chapter at the end which is nice, I think it was good to end on that message because it’s a good cliffhanger and definitely makes me want to find out what happens next. I am hoping there is more deviation from the TV show because I find myself guessing what happens and that’s not always fun. I want to be shocked lol.

I am wondering if Jenna ever comes back to Rosewood properly or if we never see her again now that Toby is gone, I am wondering when Emily embraces her sexuality with Maya as it could still be a while, I wonder if Wren comes back though I really hope he doesn’t…and I also want to know what Hanna’s mom plans to do since her daughter is so ‘out of control’. And of course, I wonder if the girls will be able to figure out who A is now that Toby is gone, even though they aren’t really speaking at the minute.

And so that’s where we leave the girls for now. I am not sure what will come next exactly, other than Spencer’s essay thing kind of working out for her, Aria trying to keep her family together, and Emily trying to be straight lol. But I’m interested to see what A pushes them to do next. After all, I feel she is just getting started.

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard Review

I am finally starting to read the PLL books! I have wanted to do this for years but I’m finally committed to it now.

I also don’t know what to call these blog posts because I guess they are reviews but mainly it’s just going to be me comparing the books to the TV show and also trying to piece together clues about who A is.

First of all though disclaimer: I already know who A is in the books. How could you watch the TV show and search A theories without being spoiled? So I know who it’s going to be and now I wanna see if there are hints to see if I can figure it out or guess.

Anyway yes, so here we are PLL. I’ve actually read the first book before. Back in 2013 when I thought I was going to read the series. I got to the second book and stopped for whatever reason lol I swear I’ll get through this time.

So the first book is basically the pilot of the TV show. We are introduced to the four girls and who they are now that Alison is missing. The TV show also reveals the girls were at a sleepover when Ali went missing but we do not know this in the first book.

Mainly the things I focused most on in this book were the differences between the TV show.

For instance, everyone is hella rich in the books. So I don’t think Hanna will be having any money troubles.

They also have pets! How wild lol and Emily has a whole ass family of siblings and her dad isn’t in the army. How strange. Also, her mum is racist towards Maya’s family which is not cute.

The appearances of the girls are also different in the books but I won’t be mad about that because that always happens when doing book adaptations to movies/TV.

So yeah those were things that were strange to me. Also, A sends the girls a lot of messages in the first book. In the pilot, I think they all get one each. But A seems relentless in the first book, texting Aria nonstop about Ezra, leaving notes for Hanna and emailing Spencer. I like this though because it really shows how forceful A is.

Also A is Mona in the beginning so tell me how she be laying high in a field at Noel’s house and sending all these messages to Aria at the same time lol. I mean she was maybe acting and wrote a script to auto send messages but for real how did she know Aria was gonna see Ezra?

I think that’s the biggest thing I wondered about while watching the show is wondering how Mona even did it all. I mean they say some crap about her mental illness making her feel omnipresent or something but there had to be more. So I am hoping the book gives me some insight.

There was also the A chapter at the end of the book which, apparently back in 2013 I loved but today I read it and it was kind of cringey. It gave me some Gossip Girl vibes like very much “and who am I? That’s a secret I’ll never tell” sort of thing. Probably could have done without it.

Though I wonder how often these A chapters happen or maybe it’s just at the end of each book. I don’t know if I like it though. We’ll see how it goes from here on out.

Another thing that was wild to me is how they write Aria and Ezra. I mean I’m 100% against Ezria because it’s creepy, I might have felt differently back in the day but now I can’t stop being like “HE IS HER TEACHER AND SHE’S UNDERAGE”. So I’ll probably complain about them a lot in every blog post lol.

Anyway, the way Ezra is written is like he might as well be Aria’s age. I mean him getting jealous over her flirting with Noel is so icky. And even when he is hurt when he thought Aria told someone about them. “I really liked you” bro get over it she’s 16 and you’re in your early 20s…

Yeah, it’s all icky and I hate it. The way they write it in the book also makes it so casual and I hate that too. So yeah not a fan of Ezria can’t wait for it to be shut down. Hope it happens soon lol.

It’s also wild how they write about Wren and Spencer and how he immediately is way more attracted to her than Melissa and stuff. Like there’s no build-up, I wish there had been more to it…not sure what else I would have wanted lol but it just seemed a tad unbelievable.

Not to mention the way Spencer’s family treat her it’s so gross. How about being angry at the 20 something student who is preying on your 16-year-old and not your 16-year-old???

Yeah, that’s another inappropriate relationship. Ick.

Aside from all of that, the book is a strong start into something interesting. I’m excited to get into the series for real this time. I’ve read bits and pieces about the book series online so I’m interested to see how it all plays out.

And of course, I’ll be blogging about it along the way. This is the kind of series I feel I’m going to have a lot of thoughts about. So stay tuned for another post probably very soon!

Back on the PLL Rollercoaster

I started to rewatch Pretty Little Liars in June, and I even created a Twitter thread to share my thoughts. It started as a little casual rewatch where I would watch a couple of episodes here and there between other things. Cut to a few weeks ago when I started binge-watching it very heavily.

I can now say with confidence I am very much back on my Pretty Little Liars bullshit lol. I was obsessed with this show when it first came out, I think I got into it around the end of season 1/start of season 2 because I did have a few episodes to watch. Once I was in, I was really in.

I remember going to school every day and talking to my friends about A theories, and I made quite a few YouTube videos on the show as the series went on.

Man those were the days.

And then the show ended and the last reveals and mysteries were honestly, just not good lol. The show had the potential to be amazing, the fandom was so involved, and yet all the show did was let the plotlines slide away in favour of the ‘ships’ and it was very sad.

Don’t get me wrong, I was 100% in it with those ‘ships’ during the show. I sure as hell shipped Aria and Ezra and everyone else…but looking back I know I should not have supported Ezria as much as I did. He was literally her TEACHER and it was hella inappropriate from start to finish.

And during my rewatch I realise just how much the show tried to romanticise it and it was WEIRD. Like even when we find out all the crap Ezra was doing like writing a secret book on Alison and everything Aria just decided “oh it’s okay I’ll marry you anyway….” very questionable.

But yeah anyway, even though I know everything that happens and have already been on this rollercoaster we are back.

I think the reason why I’m being pulled back in, is that the early seasons of the show are really good. I mean that Mona reveal was EVERYTHING when I watched it for the first time. It was so unexpected (unless you’ve read the books) and the actress that played Mona just done it so well. I loved it.

And this time around the season that is really grabbing me in is season 3, when I have done rewatches in the past I only ever really made it through the first couple of seasons, so this time I’m determined to make it the whole way through and I can say with confidence I will.

Season 3 is really grabbed me with the Halloween train episode. If you ask me, that’s peak PLL, there were so many reveals and Aria was missing and the suspense level was at an all time high. I loved it all.

Which is why now all I do is think about PLL and it’s all I can post about online. So if you want to unfollow me on Twitter for a while I totally get it, though I try to contain the tweets to one threat so hopefully it’s not too annoying.

So yes, this is where my life is. Obsessed with PLL and also trying to play Animal Crossing all the time since the 2.0 update launched and gave us all the new content. Aka I have reverted back to being 15 and I can’t say I hate it lol.

Fangirl Overload – Pretty Little Liars Season 6B

This show.
I swear.
If you guys have been following me on social media for a while then you know all about how Pretty Little Liars makes me feel. And now that we are into the second half of season six things have never been so intense.
We are only three episodes into season 6B and yet I’m already freaking out hysterically. I have so many questions and thoughts about how this season has been going. The five-year time jump has really changed the game and it’s hard to believe that just a few months ago we found out the identity of A.
So much has changed and yet it still has that PLL flair that makes you want to come back for more. I love it, so much so that I have already made two videos talking about the second half of season six already. If you want to know all my thoughts on Pretty Little Liars right now check them out below:

And if you want to know my thoughts on future episodes then follow me on Twitter. I always tweet when I’m watching the show because I always have so many thoughts to share.
I’ll be so sad when the show ends because I don’t know if I’ll ever find a show to replace it. But I don’t have to worry about that for a while. I just have to think about making it through the rest of the series without freaking out too much. Although I don’t think that’s possible. It is Pretty Little Liars after all.

Game Over, Charles – My Pretty Little Liars Summer Finale Reaction

Um…what?

So…last night I watched the episode and I filmed my reaction immediately, like didn’t even really check on social media didn’t really have time to let things sink in and I was kind of just…in a daze. Trying to process everything that happened. If you guys wanna check out the raw reaction to the episode check out the video below:

It is now the next day and I have had time to process everything, watch the episode again and go on social media to get the general thoughts on the episode.
Here’s the deal, PLL fans are not happy. And I can agree with a lot of them, I can see why people are angry, I have seen the lengths people have went to make their own theories and I can see how they’d be disappointed with the real thing.
I have to say I’m only like half disappointed with the episode. I mean I was definitely shocked when A turned around and it turned out to be CeCe. I was not expecting that. I was so sure A was a guy that I just…kind of shut down the idea that he could be a girl.
In fact, to me the whole transgender thing was a surprise. I didn’t think Pretty Little Liars would take that route. Mainly just because I didn’t see that being the style of the show, I’m fine with the way they went with the story but I just wasn’t expecting it. I saw a lot of theories about Charles being transgender, but a lot of people thought that Charles was originally a girl wanting to be a boy and not the other way around.
One thing I am definitely not okay with was Sara being Red Coat/Black Widow. And I know I’m not the only one. I said in my last blog post I didn’t want Sara to be Red Coat. She was only introduced this season and there is literally no motive behind why Sara was doing this or why CeCe chose her at all. I just…I don’t get it. Why Sara. She’s so…annoying. I really don’t like her so the fact this happened was just not okay with me.
But can we please talk about when Emily punched Sara? Because that was one of my favourite things about this episode haha.
I am also not sure why everyone is okay with what CeCe did to them. Like, she almost killed them and tortured them for years and yet they seem to be pretty willing to let it go. I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t be. I can understand why Alison would, but I don’t with the other girls. CeCe may have said she loved all of them, but I just don’t see how she did.
One thing we were promised is that we would feel sorry for A. And I sort of do feel sorry for CeCe but at the same time that doesn’t make what she did okay.
I also don’t understand the whole Mona and CeCe in Radley thing. I mean I understand CeCe agreed to play the game with Mona so that she could get out of Radley but why did she love hearing so much about the girls.
Did she really only punish the girls because they seemed happy Alison was gone?
And what are the odds of Bethany picking that yellow outfit to wear to escape Radley on the same night Alison was wearing it?
Because Bethany ends up stealing CeCe’s clothes and going after Mrs D for having an affair with her dad and so CeCe follows her and hits her with a rock. But that turns out to be Alison…so CeCe hit Alison.
Which leads us to…Mona killing Bethany. Um…what? I’m sorry, but there were just so many people in that general area that night Alison disappeared. I mean seriously can we just get a full episode with everything they said happened that one night. I need to know how everything played out. From the barn to Alison going to the kissing rock to Bethany getting murdered and Alison being buried alive. What really happened?
One thing I have to applaud Pretty Little Liars for is that they did give us a lot of answers. I know they may not have been the answers everyone wanted, but they definitely gave us more in that one episode than they ever did in the rest of this season. So yay for them finally following through on something haha.
Now moving onto the flash forward of five years…
Alison writing on a chalkboard…she is Mrs something…so is she married? If she is, every Emison shipper is gonna be heartbroken and we all know it. I kind of thought she just changed her name for safety reasons because at first I didn’t notice she wrote Mrs. Also she’s a teacher! Did we expect that to be Alison’s profession?
Also, he is coming for Alison so…you know someone new is after them. What else is new? Haha.
I’m excited about the time jump mainly because they are no longer going to be in high school. Which is good because they can’t pass for high school students for much longer, well maybe Sasha Pieterse can but that’s because she’s 19.
And of course, there are things that this episode never really answered…like who killed Mrs DiLaurentis, or if the mums ever made it out of the basement…these are things we all need to know. Hopefully, we find out in the upcoming episodes…
As for who I originally thought was A…well, I was kind of jumping on the Wren train with a lot of people but as we got clues revealed to us last night I made a spider diagram and CeCe’s name was on there!

I also made notes during the episode so I remembered what to talk about haha…it’s a little bit of a mess…

Pretty Little Liars Summer of Answers So Far…

Oh my God.

What.
New characters.
I’m done.
So last night I sat down to film a video talking about Pretty Little Liars so far this season, and it turned into a 40-minute video. Turns out I have a lot of feelings about this season of PLL. Now I’m not going to sit and write about everything I talked about in the video because that would be a waste of time, but I just wanted to highlight some things I talked about in the video here. And of course if you guys wanna check out the video it is below:

Onto the things I want to highlight:
Sara Harvey – is she Red Coat? I don’t know…people on Tumblr and some of my friends think she might be. But I don’t want her to be. I mean I understand where everyone is coming from because it would finally explain why she was being so weird all the time around the girls but…I don’t think she is. I feel like it’s the easy way out for them to make Sara Red Coat and so…I hope it’s someone else. Even though I already thought we knew who Red Coat was…but according to the last episode we do not.
Mona – I want more Mona on the show. I just love her. Also can we please talk about Mona and Mike? I ship it. #M&M
Leslie – What even was her deal? I bet we never see her again.
Emily’s Habitat for Humanity friend – Potential new love interest for Ezra? I hope not… #Ezria forever.
Alison – Her feelings towards Charles, I kind of understand but at the same time I don’t. Charles tried to kill you, why do you feel bad for him? I mean…I know by the time we know Charles’s whole story I’ll be feeling sorry for him too but until then can we just focus on catching him…then we can decide what we want to happen to him.
Charles – Remember when we went through that episode where we thought he might be dead, but then he turned around and was like lol jk I’m alive and coming home for a birthday party. Yeah…hated that. Also, Charles is not Jason’s twin but rather his older brother…and Alison and Jason have met him before because Mrs D took them to his birthday party one year…random…I wonder what other events they have been to of Charles’s that they didn’t know of?
Rhys – He’s so not Charles. I’m sorry, but the show can’t do that to me…nope. He’s good looking, though, I’ll give him that. People on Tumblr seem to think he’s there to frame Jason….hmm…I guess we’ll see.
Clark – Why are him and Rhys working together? What is their deal? I imagine that Clark had something to do with sneaking Rhys into the gallery to swap out the pictures in the last episode, but who knows?
Lorenzo and Alison – Do we ship it? I liked them together, thought it was nice. However it seems it’s very over between them so…it was nice while it lasted.
Ella and Ashley – Yes! Mum power! It’s very rare we get to see the parents on this show interact with each other, but I kind of love it. Someone on Twitter suggested the mums get their own spin-off show and I would totally watch it. I mean…they’re pretty great.
The last thing I wanted to mention in this blog post is this Facebook post in which Pretty Little Liars promised us we’d get the answers we’ve been waiting for all summer:

If we get all those answers in one episode I think I might die. I mean I’ve waited about five years for this (I started watching PLL about two seasons in) they better finally give us some REAL ANSWERS.
But at the same time, I don’t want to get my hopes up too much because chances are, we will only get one of those answers, and that is the reveal of Charles, because that’s what they have been promoting the most. The other things I consider a bonus…
I guess we’ll just have to see. In the meantime, I’ll be on Tumblr looking up some theories, and if any of you have your own theories please feel free to leave them in the comments below because I love reading them.

PLL Season 5 Finale – WE KNOW WHO A IS

Oh my God.
I have no words.
Well I do have words. Just not coherent ones. If you guys would like to see my initial reaction to the big A reveal then please watch the video below…
*WARNING SPOILERS FROM BELOW THIS POINT*

So it’s been a few days since I watched the episode and tonight I decided I would watch it again to talk about it.
I’m still pretty unsure of everything.
I mean I’m not actually one of those people that comes up with PLL theories. Which seems weird when you watch the show because I think everyone has their own theories from time to time about this show. I think it’s gotten to the point where I just don’t anymore because there’s so many things in the show to consider when coming up with a half decent theory.
But I think it’ll be a project for me over summer – rewatch PLL and try to connect the dots.
They say there are major hints in seasons 3-5 to the identity of A and I have yet to really pick up on any but I am seriously set on going through every episode again and trying to come up with a solution.
I’ll probably blog about it.
Anyway…onto the actual episode.
On a whole I would say this is probably one of the best PLL episodes to date. I mean it was amazing and it was intense and it was just so…everything. I mean I don’t really know how else to describe it I just loved it so much.
The big reveal was of course disappointing. I mean Charles DiLaurentis was worked out from the previous episodes when we discovered that Mona’s random sentences were anagrams of Charles DiLaurentis. And when I say “we” I mean hardcore fans because I definitely didn’t get Charles from those sentences haha.
However I feel like he’s A.
I mean I like to believe he is because then we have a person who A could be. Plus he’s keeping the girls in this house for a reason.
Yes there is always the chance he is doing this for someone of a higher power a.k.a Black Widow who is supposed to be Uber A. Like I really don’t know how many of these people there can be.
But I did do a search and Big A – Charles – is different from Uber A.
Which means…Charles is like second in command.
I mean they said they’d reveal Big A. And they said at the end of the episode #CharlesIsA. Like I kind of take that to mean Charles is A.
People tend to think different but this is what I’m going with for now.
The real question is though who is Charles? We don’t see his face but from the build of him and his height it is only assumed he is a male. However I have seen several posts who think it’s actually a woman. I have no idea where that comes from.
I mean after I watched the episode the first time I went online to find out what everyone else’s reactions were and not a lot of people were happy about this reveal. And every so often on Tumblr you would scroll past a post that said “WHO THE FUCK IS CHARLES?!” which I found quite funny because everyone else was posting serious theories and then you’d get one confused person haha.
A lot of people seemed to think Charles is a brand new person but I don’t know why? I think because we haven’t heard the name before everyone assumes it’s a new person but apparently it is someone we’ve seen on the show before.
Which leads into this idea that Andrew is Charles. I don’t believe this. I mean I believe Andrew is part of it but I don’t think he’s Charles. I mean clearly Andrew is part of it he was listening to Melissa’s phone call to her parents. Which leads you to wonder why Melissa was calling…
I have also read theories that Charles wanted to be a girl but the DiLaurentis family wouldn’t let him and so sent him to Radley and that would explain his obsession with dolls…
Some people don’t think Charles is Jason’s twin and that he’s someone else entirely…
I kind of go along with the Jason twin thing. I mean that video shown in the nursery room place where Spencer gets approached with Charles suggests that Jason has a twin as these two boys are seen with Mrs D and a baby which we assume is Alison and her two brothers.
However watching it back I realised only one of the boys kisses the baby and the other one sort of stands by so maybe it’s not what we think?
I mean all Mrs D says is “come over here and kiss your sister..”
OMG I just had this idea…
What if the baby Mrs D is holding is not Alison? What if it is BETHANY. What if one of the boys is Charles but it is Bethany’s brother?! Who is to say that Mrs D and her family were there alone? What if they were with the Young family?!
Mind blown.
Not even kidding I kind of think that.
But then the pictures Mona is looking at in the room focus on the two boys…there is a connection. But I don’t know what and it’s driving me insane.
Like if they aren’t twins what are they? Because they look extremely similar.
Also during the episode I had this idea that maybe Charles is someone’s twin but it’s not Jason and it’s someone else like a girl. I kind of got this because there were two puppets in the room one a boy and one a girl so it’s a bit far fetched but what if someone random like CeCe had a twin. I mean they said there was going to be a twin thing but not like the books and it’s not 100% clear that it’s Jason…
My head is hurting trying to think this through haha.
There are so many theories.
But the main focus is definitely on Charles.
However when I was searching for information on Charles people also suggested that the name is actually Rachel S and not Charles at all. But I definitely think it’s Charles because the figure in the episode is male.
Out of all the characters on the show we have seen so far I have no idea who could be Charles. I mean I guess we have to start looking for characters of a similar height compared to Spencer…
Plus I was even trying to tell who it was by their hair? Like their hair was bothering me but then I was reading that it could have been a wig so that kind of rules that out.
I mean it’s safe to say this whole thing is just a really big mystery. And if the show doesn’t have a wonderful explanation of it I know everyone’s going to be mad. Including me.
I mean I can’t have this show turn into How I Met Your Mother…when we found out who the mother was but then found out she dies…and Robin goes AWOL and so does Barney and they don’t even stay together…
Like that can’t happen to this show.
I can’t have a random person be A they have to be tied to the girls in some way…
There’s just so much going on right now…
I don’t even think this blog post makes sense.
So I think I’ll leave it here haha. I mean I think I’m just typing whatever comes into my head and that doesn’t always make sense and can seem disjointed. So yeah…
What do you guys think? Who is Charles? Is he the twin of Jason? Do you think someone else is A? What are your theories?
I am very interested to know.
Also if you want to find out who I thought was going to be revealed as A before the episode ended you can watch the video below…it’s quite long but there was a lot of people to consider…

Apart from that I hope you liked this blog post, even if it was a bit unstructured and I will hopefully be back soon with more PLL theories…as we still have two more seasons to go and it can only start to make more sense from here…right?
