Recently Watched Netflix Shows

In February, I finally finished the Originals which means that I had finally been able to start on some new shows. There have been quite a few Netflix shows that I have been wanting to watch, but wouldn’t let myself until I finished the Originals, because if I wasn’t going to finish it now, I probably would never have finished it.

Now that I have been freed up to watch something new, I decided to tackle the list of Netflix shows I have that are all just one season. Because they are all just one season, it makes them easy to watch. Will they have more than one season? Who’s to say, but it means I can get through them quickly and move onto the next.

And instead of making blog posts for each one of them, I decided to combine them all into this one blog post and share some thoughts. I imagine I will have more thoughts on some than others, but this way they all get covered quickly and then I guess I can go on to bigger and better shows lol.

Warning, there will be spoilers for these shows ahead.

So first off we have:

Bridgerton

This was one that was at the top of the list. I mean it’s Gossip Girl in the 1800s and I love Gossip Girl. Plus it’s from Shondaland and I also have a history of loving every Shonda show I’ve ever watched. So talk about a match made in heaven.

I didn’t take to it right away, but the show definitely grew on me. I am a fan, and I’m excited to see the next season and also to read the books. I didn’t think I was that attached to the show until it ended and now I find myself wanting to know everything about this world lol.

Plus the fact they revealed Lady Whistledown’s identity in season one, it was a bold move but now I just want to rewatch and keep an eye out for clues. But also, I’m left with lots of questions and wondering where go from here for next season. I guess if anything, I’m glad there is going to be a next season.

What/If

This has been on my list for a long time but I just never got around to watching it, until now. It was okay. I mean most of it was me trying to figure out what Anne wanted with Lisa and Sean and then they revealed it and I thought it was terrible. Like it kind of ruined it for me that Anne was Lisa’s mum, I don’t know why but I just hate those kind of plot twists. It reminds me of a book I read not long ago where they had a similar reveal and I hated that so…yeah it’s not my favourite storyline lol.

Also it was so weird that Marcos kept talking to that guy he and his boyfriend had a threesome with one time. Like I thought it was a one-off thing but then they kept hanging out which was strange to me but I guess it’s cool if they can be friends.

Then there was that creepy doctor guy who had an affair with Angela and that escalated so fast like he literally turned into a psycho killer in 5 seconds. I mean I sensed something was wrong with him when we first met him but dang.

But yeah overall just okay, not exactly what I was expecting but still interesting if you are into that whole thing. Definitely not something I would rush back to if it were to come back for another season, though it did come out two years ago so I feel like if there was going to be another season we would have heard about it by now.

The Society

Another one that has been on my list for a long time. I wasn’t sure how to feel about it at first, especially when the show starts and you’re introduced to like 20 people at the same time and it’s all confusing. Like even now I’m finished the season I still don’t think I know half the people’s names. But the show did grow on me.

I’m sad that Netflix cancelled it after one season, they were even going to have a second season but it was cancelled due to COVID. Which is annoying especially when there are so many questions I have about the show. For example, what the heck was that reveal at the end? Like the parents are fine? The kids are dead? The dog exists in both worlds? I need to know what the deal is with “the smell”.

I also need to know what is going to happen to Allie, she doesn’t deserve to die. Is Campbell going to ultimately end up killing Elle or will she kill herself to escape him? Is Lexie going to be a good leader? I’m not even going to entertain the idea of Harry being a leader because he’s not one lol. Also are they really going to teach themselves how to farm/are they going to find out where they are?

So yeah, definitely sad to have gotten involved in this one just because we don’t know what would have happened. I imagine there is a bunch of fanfiction out there/fan theories so I may have to look that up to satisfy my need for an ending.

Dare Me

This had the potential to be the teen drama show I needed in my life. Like I love a good high school drama show, I live for Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl. But sadly, this did not live up to that.

I mean it definitely had me interested with Beth, she seems like the one I need to be the main character. Addy is just eh, like it’s weird she gets wrapped up into the world of the ‘Coach’. I mean the Coach is supposed to be a grown ass woman and the only person she can make friends with is a high school cheerleader? Creepy.

I thought this was going to be like Fab Five Texas High School Cheerleading Scandal-type drama but it was very flat in comparison. I mean a few things were interesting but the big drama happened at the end and even with that, not that impressed. So sad it didn’t live up to my expectations, but also sad it’s not getting another season because I probably would have stuck around to see where it went especially when the first season ended on a cliffhanger.

Luckily for me though there is a book so I think I’ll take a stab at that just so I can find out who killed Will. Unless it’s not revealed there either and then that would just be sad.

AJ and the Queen

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one to be honest. I thought maybe it would be too OOT and not really have a plot but I was surprised. Definitely not my favourite of all the shows I’ve watched but it was enjoyable and I did enjoy seeing RuPaul in an acting role. AJ was kind of annoying to me in the beginning but she grew on me.

I know the show was cancelled but I honestly don’t know if I would have wanted another season. And even if they did have a second season I definitely couldn’t see them going beyond that. But yeah, overall a cute show, I enjoy Drag Race and RuPaul so it only made sense to give this show a go.

Tiny Pretty Things

This show definitely seemed like something I would enjoy, but it was kind of messy for me. And by that I mean they had a lot of good drama but it just wasn’t done well? Like I just felt the series was all over the place and they tried to do a lot in season one. Every character seemed to be going through a lot and I felt like they spent about 5 minutes addressing a problem before it moved onto something else. It was wild.

I mean I still don’t even know who half the characters really are and if things are going to be addressed properly in the long term. For example, Oran’s eating disorder, why is that not talked about or noticed more? And then there’s his whole thing with Shane like is that just glossed over and everything is normal again? And I still don’t really know what Neveah’s deal is like I thought she was gonna be the main character but she’s not really, and then she seems to get angry and lash out for no reason most of the time. Not to mention I also hate the friendships in this show, I know that this happens in other shows where everyone’s friends one second and then they are not but in this show it changes SO MUCH and there’s only been 10 episodes…it was just a lot to go through.

So definitely not the best show, but it definitely kept me interested enough to watch until the end. No idea if it will get another season or if I’ll be interested in it just because of the way they tell the story it’s just a bit confusing. I know it is based on a book series so I might give that a go but if it’s as chaotic as the TV show I think I’ll stay away.

And this concludes a month and a half of binge watching Netflix shows. I have to say, I did enjoy this. It was a nice break up from starting to binge a longer show with more seasons because sometimes those get tiring to watch.

I’m not gonna lie, there are definitely more Netflix shows out there that I want to watch, especially when Netflix is releasing new content all the time, but these shows were ones that were pressing me and most that I never made time for until now.

I guess now comes the task of trying to find what’s next, though realistically it will probably be a while before I find something new to really sink into. So until then I have reverted back to watching some Ugly Betty for old times’ sake.

If you’ve watched any of these shows then let me know what you think, otherwise if you have any suggestions then let me know! Might as well take advantage of still being in lockdown to get some good binge watching in.

The Circle USA Season 1 Thoughts

We are jumping into 2021 with a brand new reality show.

So I remember when the Circle UK was first announced and I knew it was going to be the show for me. Sadly, I never watch live TV and kind of forgot about it so I never actually got around to watching it. Cut to a couple years later and I’m on Netflix and this is the first thing that shows up on the homescreen.

I was hooked from the first episode and I really wanted to binge it right away, sadly though I was watching with my boyfriend and he believes in “rationing” shows, so I could only watch one episode a night and it killed me inside a little. But I’m finally finished and I’m ready to share all my thoughts.

First of all, those apartments better be soundproof because the amount of yelling and jumping that goes on from people is actually insane. Like you’re telling me that no one could hear Sammie screaming everytime something big happened? Or no one heard Seaburn jumping up and down in glee? Sure Jan.

Second of all, that social media platform “the Circle” must have the best voice recognition for text to speech – that or me and my boyfriend pictured some guy in the basement listening to their conversations and having to do all the typing in real time. If that was the case then I feel for them, I really do.

Now onto the real dirt, the contestants! I want to talk about everyone individually because I got my thoughts and feelings on all of them and it seems like the most organised way to do it. So let’s jump in:

Alana

I’m going to go in the order they arrived. So Alana was there for one episode lol. I thought she might have lasted longer but in hindsight, she does seem like the kind of girl that would be easy to catfish. So it’s not the worst that she got kicked out, but it would have been interesting if she had stuck around a little longer.

Antonio

I don’t know what kind of game that he was playing but it was not a good one. That’s all I have to say about him to be honest. He was not very memorable to me.

Karyn/Mercedeze

I feel like she was kind of aggressive sometimes. I love that she got along with Chris though. She was definitely being too obvious about Antonio going to visit her with her pretending she was waiting for him and he didn’t go see her. Plus when Sammie was out there with the #AntonioKnowsTheTruth I was screaming, it was too good. She knew. And even though everyone was sure she was a catfish, I’ll never get over the looks on everyone’s faces when they saw her video.

Seaburn/Rebecca

Most of my thoughts around Seaburn involve Shubham to be honest. Like I just kept thinking how upset Shubham was going to be when he found out the truth.

Though Seaburn played the game real well, I’ll admit sometimes he was too sensitive and he went way over the top with his Adam relationship feelings that I was surprised people didn’t suspect him sooner. It was also really funny to watch him try to have girl talk because he was not prepared lol.

Also you gotta love watching him flirt with Adam and they both were catfishing, definitely a highlight.

Chris

Chris was so nice! He is definitely the kind of friend you want in life and he was fun and got along with everyone. I know everyone thought he was kind of fake but I never saw that for him. He was always the one I noticed in the early episodes with is notebook ready to play the game and I loved that. You gotta be smart in this place.

I was sad that he wasn’t shown as much as the series went on but he always provided the comic relief we needed. I also love that he connected with all the catfishes the most and was so accepting of everyone. Honestly what a king. Glad he made it to the end.

Sammie

I feel like I went back and forth on Sammie a lot. But ultimately I liked her, I thought she was fun. I especially enjoyed seeing those vulnerable sides to her when she connected with people like Shubham. That really helped me to like her, because otherwise she looked like the attractive, mean girl that I would be intimidated by in real life haha.

I also have to say her line tattoo bothered me a lot in the beginning because I had no idea if it lead somewhere to another design or was a mic cable or something but she made a YouTube video and just said it meant nothing so…there’s that.

Shubham

I loved Shubham. He was precious and I felt like he needed to be protected because Seaburn was catfishing hard. I was glad that Shubham did so well and I wasn’t expecting it to be honest, like influencer 4 times in a row? Wild. At first I thought it was going to be hard for him to make relationships because he wasn’t very talkative in the group chats (I mean I would be the same) but I’m glad he had an alliance with Rebecca early on and ended up becoming good friends with everyone.

I also like that he was probably the most average person there, in that he wasn’t super out there with his photos and he was just being his genuine self, and we love that for him.

Also his bromance with Joey was honestly so fun and I love that and if they could just have a show together I would watch it all the time. I see them as a quirky comedy duo going on adventures together.

Joey

Not gonna lie from the second he showed up I thought I was going to hate him. He was loud and obnoxious and just seemed like the usual douchey kind of guy you wanna avoid. After a few episodes, he’s still loud but he actually becomes really likeable. I mean he was very straight forward with everyone and he was a nice guy.

I think it was interesting to see how he became the most popular at the end. I mean he seemed to be working over time just before the last vote to make sure he had everyone on side but he did it really well.

Sad he edged out Shubham but he has the more outgoing personality so, I saw it coming.

Miranda

Miranda was one I was unsure about in the beginning, like I didn’t know what her intentions were or anything. But she turned out to be a nice person, though there wasn’t anything particularly special about her for me.

I did enjoy her relationships with Joey and Sammie though. At first I thought maybe there was some rivalry there with her and Sammie but they ended up becoming cute friends. Plus her and Joey definitely had some sparks.

I think it was great that she went to see Joey and they had their little moment. Sad that they didn’t really get to continue that outside the Circle but at least they had a good time.

Also annoyed that they didn’t show her leaving video! It was the only one we never saw and I just wonder what it would have been.

Alex/Adam

One I wasn’t sure about when he came in. I feel like he was trying too hard with the persona in the beginning and the flirting with Seaburn was kind of painful. Like neither of them were saying normal things? It was all very exaggerated, with him being overly sexual and Seaburn being overly emotional and lovey. It didn’t really work out.

I am also surprised that he was saved in the elimination when Miranda went home. I was not seeing that from Shubham but I guess they talked a lot more than I knew.

I did love when he went to see Seaburn and they had a whole happy moment. The mutual catfish understanding meant neither could be mad about the situation and I loved that. Plus I was just WAITING for someone to see Seaburn because I wanted to know how they would react.

Bill

Bill was in the Circle for five minutes and was not memorable at all. I don’t know if he is a nice guy because honestly all we saw of him was coming in at the beginning and then immediately leaving and calling everyone fake lol. I think he was just bitter he couldn’t break into the clique with the O.Gs.

Sean

Sean was really nice though I was surprised that she was giving up the catfish game so easily and didn’t play it out until the end. But she was super cute and I think it would have been interesting if she had been genuine from the beginning. I know Shubham would have 100% been her friend for being real. And Chris, but Chris loves everyone and he loved Sean no matter what anyway.

Ed/Tammy

Super weird for them to throw Ed at the very end, but also weird that he decided to bring his mum into the game with him. I think it would have been better to throw them in during the middle of the game so we could see more of a dynamic between them playing Ed on one profile.

Also wasn’t sure if Ed was “big braining” by accusing Seaburn of being a catfish or if he was just guessing but interesting that he picked it up quickly.

Overall they were fun to watch and I think if he hadn’t have been so new at the end he might have gone a bit further in the competition. I mean don’t get me wrong, it would’ve been so impressive if he managed to pull it off and win the thing but there was no way he was breaking through the original five bond.

And those were all my thoughts on the Circle! Naturally I am following everyone on Instagram because I got attached to them while watching the show. I wish we got more footage of everyone hanging out after the show ended, I think it would have been interesting to see them interacting more in person. But I guess that’s not what the show is about haha.

I’m excited to see where they go in the next season and of course I will be checking out the original UK version of the Circle. I know it’s going to be so different but I am interested to see how it goes, plus apparently they use the same apartment building so that’ll be weird because the apartments really suited these contestants so I wonder how they suit others.

Aside from the reality shows I am also making my way through the Crown with my boyfriend and I’m slowly watching the Originals by myself. But there are still many a show on the “to watch” list so at least if we still aren’t leaving the house so far this year, there is lots to keep me entertained.

Spinning Out Season One Thoughts

I am late to the party with this one. But ever since I saw the trailer for Spinning Out, it was something that I wanted to watch. I just finally got around to pressing play and allowing myself to get into it.

I’m kind of sad I did though, knowing that it is cancelled and so there won’t be a second season. No one likes starting a new show only to find out it’s going to be cancelled, but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying it.

So yes, Spinning Out is about a figure skater Kat, who has to navigate her skating career as it takes a turn and she is partnered up for the first time. She has to figure out how to make the partnership work while also handling her bipolar mother, her dramatic sister and her own mental health issues.

Not to mention, Kat is played by Kaya Scodelario, and if you grew up in the UK as a teen then you probably idolised her for her role as Effy in Skins (like I did). So you know you have to check out this show and see what it’s about.

I mean it’s definitely not Skins if that’s what you’re thinking, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that Kaya is an amazing actress and is very enjoyable to watch.

I wouldn’t say I was hooked right away though, I definitely had to watch a couple of episodes before I was committed, which is a tall order when the episodes are around an hour long. But at the same time, there are only ten of them so it’s not the worst if you end up not liking the show. Sure it’s a lot of time wasted, but there are worse shows to waste your time on.

I found this show super interesting because I have always been fascinated with figure skating. Like it’s wild to me that these people can twirl and flip and spin on ice and not fall on their faces. I’ve tried ice skating before and I have no balance, so to see people just be able to effortlessly glide along the ice is wild to me.

So I enjoy the ice skating aspect, I have enjoyed the idea of figure skating ever since I saw the Disney movie Go Figure, and I feel like that’s another reason why I liked this show because it gave me similar vibes. Definitely a more grown up version of that but the same theme. A girl has dreams of going to the Olympics as a skater, but it’s not going to be easy.

Sadly though, we won’t really know how it turns out for Kat and Justin. I mean the finale of the show didn’t really leave any big cliff hangers, so I guess you could assume they go on to achieve greatness, but I wish we could know more about their journey. Especially after where we left things with them.

Another aspect of the show that was interesting was the dynamic between Kat’s family because of both her and her mother suffering from bipolar disorder. I don’t know much about it, and I can’t say how accurate the show’s depiction of it was but it definitely gave you an insight into it and I found it intriguing.

It’s become more common now in TV shows to address mental health, and I am enjoying that. It’s actually nice to see people struggle with more problems than just the superficial issues and drama on TV. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, because that’s the kind of TV I live for, but yeah I think it’s important to showcase people who deal with mental health issues too.

The only other time I have seen a bipolar character on TV was Silver in 90210 and I feel like it wasn’t a big deal then. It was the kind of thing they used as a big plot point and then never really brought it up again. But in Spinning Out, it’s one of the main focuses and we see how Kat and her mom struggle with keeping their secret but also maintaining a normal life.

On top of the skating and the mental health, of course there is enough regular drama going on too. The usual drama with love, family, and friendships which make up most of the TV shows that I enjoy watching.

After finishing the series, I am sad that there is not going to be another season. I can’t believe that Netflix cancelled the show only a month after it aired. I remember seeing a lot of people rallying to get it picked up again around the time but not sure if anything ever came of it which is a shame. I have seen a lot of shows in the past that have been cancelled originally but then are given another chance based on fan demand, I guess this just won’t be one of them.

I suppose the bright side of it is that the season left off nicely, in that there wasn’t a big cliffhanger or anything. Everything did kind of seem to wrap up in the last episode. I guess this might be another reason why Netflix might not feel it’s worth giving us another season or some kind of ending. Which is always sad, but it happens. I guess on the bright side, it means I can move on to watch other shows. What those shows are yet, I have no idea, but I’m sure I’ll find something new to watch in no time.

Emily in Paris Season One Thoughts

It’s been a while since I really sat down to watch a show. Don’t get me wrong, I have definitely been watching TV recently but haven’t really taken the time to get into something new.

So here we are, Emily in Paris. Not the greatest name for a TV show but it sums it up pretty well.

Basically, Emily is working in a marketing firm in America, but ends up getting the opportunity to go to Paris in place of her boss who found out she was pregnant. The only problem is that Emily does not know French. Sounds like the beginnings of a cute comedy right?

It’s not totally wrong. I mean if you want something light and happy to watch, then this is your show. Plus, it’s only half an hour per episode so it’s a nice quick watch too. Which is nice relief from the usual 40 minute heavy drama shows I usually watch.

But after all ten episodes I’m still not sure how to feel about it? I didn’t instantly fall in love with it like I thought I might, it had the potential to be something I really enjoyed but something was pulling me out of it.

I think part of it was just the second hand embarrassment I felt for Emily because she didn’t speak French. And I know that’s the point but I don’t know, it bothered me lol. And I know she was trying to learn, but let’s be real, she probably will never learn French during the show running. Which is fine, but I don’t know, her half-failed attempts at the language were just annoying.

Then there’s the fact that she basically carries all the work of the advertising firm she works at. I mean sure it would be boring if she didn’t get good things to work on, but why is everyone there just not good at their job?

I also couldn’t figure out the purpose of Julien and Luc, I mean sure they were just mean co-workers and stuff in the beginning but by the end they were kind of friends with Emily? But really just serve as people who pretend to work along with the other couple of extras that are around. I don’t know if I like them or not, I was waiting for one of them to step up to be the work BFF we so know that Emily needs but no… Which just makes them seem kind of pointless to be honest.

Also Sylvie tries to be the boss bitch character which I often enjoy, but she is far from the Miranda Priestly I was half expecting her to be. There’s just something off about her which means I don’t like her very much. I don’t even know what it is, I just feel like she doesn’t have much personality besides hating on Emily and having an affair.

As for Emily herself, she’s just okay. I mean she always wears cute outfits and yes, is apparently amazing at her job. I’m not sure what else will come from her next though as she tries to get herself out of this weird love square thing she created for herself. I don’t imagine it’s going to go gracefully but we’ll see.

One thing I will say though is that they did a good job of literally not having any average looking men in Paris. Like honestly, that just doesn’t happen in real life, but that’s how these shows go lol. Everyone is always looking amazing and dressed to the nines, even if they aren’t supposed to afford it. I mean I know they aren’t making out Emily as poor, but I’m amazed at all the Chanel she can afford, plus her BFF Mindy wears so many fancy things and she makes even less money as a nanny.

Oh and another random point is that it’s so wild to see so many people smoking again on TV. I suppose I haven’t seen that much smoking indoors or out since Sex and the City lol. But it’s weird after not seeing it for so long. That being said, I think it would be amazing if we ever saw Sylvie finish a cigarette, talk about wasteful sis.

Overall though, it is a cute show. Something nice if you aren’t looking for something serious. But I did find myself wanting to like it but there was something off about it, not sure exactly what it is but it might just be a combination of everything I mentioned above and some other things too.

I’m not really sure where the next season will lead, apart from Emily trying to deal with the two love interests she has and also working with a man who’s wife basically said “yes sleep with my husband”. I mean definitely sounds like the kind of gossip and drama I love in life, but I guess it’s just not quite dramatic enough haha.

Oh well, it was still something nice to watch. I’m not sure when we will get another season but I’ll look forward to seeing what is next.

In the meantime, I will go back to making my way through the Originals. And probably watching Gossip Girl again because no one really does Paris like Blair Waldorf. And she even knows French.

Love Is Blind Season One Thoughts

So I just finished watching Love Is Blind. I began watching it with my friend Jasmine while I was in London last weekend and I needed to know how things ended up so I continued to watch.

As expected, it is kind of a trashy reality show. I don’t usually watch these and try to avoid them, like I don’t watch other dating shows like Love Island because everyone talks about them so much. But this one sounded kind of bizarre and so I had to watch.

I’m going to share my general thoughts on the show and then talk about the couples who we followed up until the wedding days.

First of all, I like the idea behind the show. I mean falling in love without actually seeing someone, it’s interesting. But to go the full way and decide you want to marry a person without even knowing what they look like is kind of crazy. Especially when you are making the decision within 10 days. Now I know that they spent way more time with each other than what we saw but it’s still wild. Proposing to someone through a wall lol the height of romance.

Second, I guess it’s not a bad set up. I mean Netflix pays for your wedding, a flat to live in up until the wedding and a whole ass trip to Mexico. Sign me up lol. I mean we knew Netflix had money because of all the shows they produce in general, but this one really got me.

That being said, everyone’s wedding was in that one venue, minus Mark and Jessica’s, and I would feel a bit cheated if we all got married in the same place…plus I think it’s also weird to have your bachelor and bachelorette parties together. Normally these are things you just do with close friends and family, but then I suppose it makes sense budget wise if everyone does it all together and is easier to film.

And finally, what happens to everyone else in the pods? I read that some other couples got engaged but they didn’t have the budget to accommodate them too, but it’s still weird how we never hear from them again. I mean we saw some of them featured and it’s just weird we don’t know what happened to them. I presumed a lot of them didn’t match with someone, but I think we at least deserve to know what happened to LC because she was a big part of that Barnett love triangle situation.

So now those general things are out of the way let’s talk about our couples!

Cameron and Lauren

These guys were basically perfect. I didn’t believe it at first when I saw all the memes about them but as the show went on I could see it. I think they should be the ‘poster couple’ for this show. You know, the success story they brag about to get people to sign up because things went so well for them.

Sure they had their ups and downs as they integrated into the real world, and hesitated about getting married but things seem to be going super well for them now. They are super cute and even have a dog together. The perfect couple.

If you didn’t walk away from the show shipping them then I don’t know what you are doing, they are great.

Diamond and Carlton

Their situation could have been handled a lot better. I think Carlton should have been up front about his past in the beginning.

I can understand why Diamond was hesitant about their relationship after that because it seemed like Carlton purposely kept something from her. And I think things would have ended better if they could have talked about the situation.

Sadly, things did not work out they way and they left things on pretty hostile terms. It was good to see they had made amends by the reunion though. I also wasn’t expecting them both to get so much hate from the whole situation. I mean neither of them handled it the best but I guess they just keep learning from it.

I just don’t think that they deserved any hate from it in general, but I suppose people love to hate on other people because they can.

Kenny and Kelly

It was kind of obvious they weren’t going to get married. And not only because I spoiled it for myself by seeing something saying they mutually agreed not to get married.

I mean Kelly kept saying herself she wasn’t sure about the physical part of the relationship and they hadn’t had sex. I mean it’s totally fine not to rush into sex with your partner but it seemed like she was just avoiding it because she wasn’t attracted to Kenny in that way.

I’m also surprised that they were able to go through with filming the wedding and everything even though they both knew they weren’t going to go through with it. It’s wild, and I know it was probably for the drama but it just doesn’t seem right at the same time.

I think if the physical connection had been there for them they would have made a really cute couple. Although it seems like Kenny is thriving in a new relationship according to the reunion so we love that.

Amber and Barnett

I wasn’t sure about this one, I guess just because Barnett seemed super unsure about any of his relationships in the beginning.

That being said I actually think they do make a good couple, they compliment each other well. Though Barnett is super laid back and Amber is super not haha.

It’s interesting because I definitely thought that Amber’s debt was going to be a big issue between them, especially since she didn’t even have a stable job. I think it was kind of sneaky she kept that from him in the pods but I guess they worked it out.

Also at the alter I wasn’t sure if Barnett was going to say yes, he seems super easygoing and like just goes with the flow but marriage is a big thing just to ‘go with the flow’ with haha. But they seem like they happy so that’s cool.

Jessica and Mark

This was a hot mess. Mainly because from the start Jessica was doubting the whole relationship. I mean she should not have said yes from the beginning. It looked like she just didn’t want to be alone after being rejected by Barnett and so settled on Mark.

Then, when they were out of the pods and Jessica saw Barnett in person, you could tell she wasn’t happy. Like I get that Mark is not her type physically and Barnett is but she just did not handle her feelings well. Getting drunk and falling all over Barnett while being engaged to someone else is not a good look sweetie.

I think when Jessica watched herself back she also knew this. I just think it is wild it happened to begin with.

All the while, I felt bad for Mark who really wanted the whole thing to work. I mean I know he said there’s no hard feelings and they were open and honest with each other the whole time but it was still very messy.

I knew when it came to their wedding that Jessica was going to say no. I’m glad she made that decision because she was never going to be fully happy with Mark. Especially when she made every excuse not to be with him and even admitted she wasn’t there with the physical connection. I just think they should have called it quits earlier.

Giannina and Damian

I almost forgot but I knew I was missing a couple!

I was for sure thinking these two would have called it off sooner than they did. I mean it kind of seemed like they were constantly fighting about nothing. It felt like Giannina was constantly testing Damian in a kind of ‘if you can’t handle me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best’ kind of way. And it could have also been a lot of self-sabotage.

I give him props for being so sensible and level headed the whole time because it easily could have turned into them just yelling at each other all the time.

It’s also interesting that Giannina said yes at the wedding because I thought if anyone was going to say no it would have been her. But I think Damian thought rationally about it and he did the right thing.

Though now the two are back together and dating and I think it’s going well. I didn’t know if they would get back together after everything but I suppose something must be working for them. I guess now that they aren’t feeling the pressure to be married, it’s a lot easier for them to take things at their own pace. Plus they don’t have to live together anymore and maybe they need some space sometimes haha.

And so those were all my thoughts about Love is Blind. No one asked for them but I’m sharing them anyway because that’s what the internet is all about.

Will I continue to watch the show? I don’t know. I mean this season was kind of wild but at the same time not wild enough to keep me wanting to watch all the time. It’s kind of exhausting to watch five weddings in a row to be honest.

But I guess we see, I mean with the rate filming for things is being suspended right now who even knows when we will be getting a new season.

In the meantime I think it’s time for me to return to One Tree Hill. Might as well take advantage of being home before Animal Crossing comes out, not that I leave my house much in day to day life anyway haha.

You Season Two Thoughts

Hello You,

I have just finished watching season 2 of You and so I thought I would share my thoughts, similar to how I did for Grey’s Anatomy. I took bullet points while I was watching the show, so that is what I’m going to share.

However, I will probably add more to them since this was a quick thing and I just wanted to watch the show.

Also before we get into this I wanna say I have read both books the TV show is based on, so if you wanna know my thoughts on Hidden Bodies, the book this season was based on then feel free to check it out here.

Now onto my thoughts on the TV show:

  • Oh Joe, running away to LA because your ex you thought was dead showed up. Mood. But also it seems so random like I feel like the book did it better, I know Joe was trying to find a place Candace was never gonna find him but he literally could have gone anywhere, in the book he goes to LA to chase someone else.
  • I was so shocked to find Joe built a cage in LA but also kind of impressed. Don’t ever change man.
  • Wow in the first like five minutes of the show Joe is getting his finger cut off by a crazy guy, that’s fun.
  • Ooh Beck the ghost! I wonder how long this lasts.
  • Well that guy definitely needed to die because he was a psycho and would never have left Joe alone but what’s next for Joe and Will?
  • It is so creepy watching Joe grind up that dude omg.
  • Delilah got a huge upgrade from the books I mean she went from “Don’t fuck Delilah” to “Don’t fuck with Delilah” – you go girl.
  • I love that they needed to write in some way to kill Henderson to stay true to the books. At least in the TV show it seems like they tried to make out like Joe was being a good guy whereas in the books he kills him over some comedy sketch lol
  • Ooh Candace and Forty I see how it’s going to be. I knew we hadn’t seen the last of her.
  • Joe accidentally killing Henderson is hilarious like look at him trying to turn a new leaf but someone died anyway…Yikes.
  • Nice nod to the book with Candace using Amy’s name. I would have preferred if Amy had been in this one but I guess there’s a thrill of trying to figure out what Candace’s plan is with Joe.
  • Poor Candace having PTSD from Joe. Not surprised though I mean she was buried alive.
  • I “wolf” you. Seriously?! So much worse than that everythingship crap.
  • I’m so glad the Third Twin thing is just a reference and not Forty’s whole idea for a movie because I don’t think I could handle that crap again. It was so stupid.
  • Seeing Joe tied up like that was hilarious but I wish it had been Candace who did it and not that other woman.
  • I guess no one is going to find out about that first guy Joe killed? I mean I suppose no one really knew about him apart from Will.
  • So Candace just got paid off and went on her merry way? Okay then.
  • Ahhh enter Milo. Surprised Love is actually sleeping with him though didn’t think that would happen. Also surprised Forty hates him, I thought he loved him in the book.
  • Joe actually took a selfie so he can online date lol. Who is he?
  • Omg that whole cleanse thing too. LA has changed Joe forever.
  • I see that Love is not going to go through that whole oral issue she had in the book. Kind of sad about that though because I thought it would be hilarious. Though in the TV show she seems to be pretty kinky.
  • Ooh Joe and Delilah getting arrested for public indecency . That’s fun. Also they were kind of cute together.
  • I was wondering how they were going to kill Delilah but she finds out about Henderson. So he kills her and then that cop guy obviously – but what about Ellie?
  • Hey Joe fixed up that wall – nice.
  • WAIT he’s letting Delilah go?! Someone is really trying to turn a new leaf.
  • Forty drugging Joe is so wild. And I thought this was when Joe was going to attempt to kill Forty but I guess not.
  • DELILAH MURDERED – but who did it?
  • Omg her facial recognition worked? With her eyes closed?! Sketchy, mine doesn’t work sometimes when I have makeup on lol
  • Joe calling Will and him being totally chill about Joe having another person in the cage and possibly killing them is crazy but okay. We love a non-judging friend.
  • Hey Candace is back! Hi girl.
  • Ah she found Joe and Delilah! This is where Joe gets caught and goes to jail right?
  • I guess not she just calls Love instead. I know from the book that Love is okay with Joe being a killer and even helps him get rid of that mug of pee so this is fine. I mean in the book I was unsure if she was really in love with him or just saying it so she didn’t die but we’ll see where this goes.
  • OMG LOVE JUST KILLED CANDACE I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING.
  • Love also killed Delilah and that babysitter? Wow.
  • LOVE IS LIKE JOE I’M SCREAMING. She is not like she is in the book, she’s a killer, she wanted Joe from the beginning, she knew they were soulmates I kind of love it but was not expecting this oh my God.
  • Lol wait does Joe not like this?
  • WAIT IS JOE THE ONE WHO IS GOING TO PRETEND TO LOVE, LOVE
  • This is a turn of events, I did not expect Joe to recoil from Love, in the book, he is the one who is still head over heels in love with Love and would still do anything for her…this is weird.
  • I see that Forty has figured out that Joe is a killer and wants to free Dr Nicky. I can see why he is freaking out, if only he knew Love could be just as dangerous…
  • What is with Joe’s hair at this wedding it is so distracting haha
  • So Forty traps Love and Joe in Anavrin and wants to kill Joe. This took a huge turn.
  • Side note I think it’s nice that Joe wants to help Ellie. There is no Ellie in the books but I think it’s nice he thinks of her and wasn’t going to kill Delilah because of her. He always looks out for the kids, like Paco in the last season. I miss him.
  • SO THE COP KILLS FORTY? Unexpected. I mean I knew Forty died in the book but I couldn’t remember how. I wasn’t sure if it was going to happen on the TV show but it made sense because it was clear that Love and Joe could never be together properly with Forty in the way, at least how Joe saw it.
  • Plus I expected Joe to kill that cop because he killed him in the book lol.
  • And so it ends with Love, actually being pregnant, living in a lovely new home with the family she always wanted with Joe by her side.
  • Meanwhile Joe hates it and believes that he deserves this for all the horrible things he has done. He thinks this is his punishment, trapped with a psycho like Love because he wants his child to have a father.
  • But at the same time there’s a neighbour who he might have caught the sight of who he quite likes…

And here we are at the end!

This was a wild rollercoaster and the bullet points are way longer than I thought they would be but I knew I had a lot of things to say.

Overall the season was really good. I mean I already knew I was going to like it based on the book alone. I knew they would make changes though because that’s understandable but it’s interesting to see how they varied quite a bit from the book.

I was a little disappointed in the variations, mainly because they have changed Joe’s character from how he was. I wasn’t expecting him to recoil from Love and realise he was a terrible person. I feel like the TV show try and make you understand him and want to kind of root for him sometimes.

But I prefer that he is just bad and his thinking justifies all the wrongful actions. I guess I just prefer him be a straight up bad guy. Seeing him turn a leaf is not what I signed up for haha.

I also still can’t get over how extreme they made Love either, it doesn’t seem right but I am interested to see more of her and where it takes us. In the book I was questioning her love for Joe but in the TV show there is no question about it lol. So I wonder how raising a family will be.

But yeah, sadly there is no new book out yet so I can’t even use that as an indicator of how the next season will go. And yes, there will be another season because Penn Badgley told us lol. So I guess we have to wait. Though the book would definitely be different anyway because Joe actually went to jail.

I wanted that to happen to be honest, I was expecting him to go to jail. Surprised it didn’t happen. I know in the book he probably won’t stay in jail for long but even so, the TV show has taken a turn, where it will lead us I don’t know.

If I had to make predictions I would say that Joe pursues the neighbour, Love finds out and isn’t happy about it so maybe she tries to kill him? I say Joe makes an escape or kills Love and then…that’s kind of how far I get.

In the meantime I guess I go back to my other shows and books and patiently wait for more info, and also insert myself into every conversation about the show on Reddit because I can’t stop talking about it.

Orange Is the New Black Season 7 Thoughts

2018-09-07_1847

I just finished binge-watching Orange Is the New Black and I thought I would share my thoughts – obviously, this is going to be a spoiler central blog post so if you still haven’t seen it then stay away!

I think I’m going to break down my thoughts per character because that makes the most sense to me, unlike with my Grey’s Anatomy posts I haven’t been taking notes as I’ve gone along so I might forget things but we see how we go.

Piper

Piper-Chapman-Taylor-Schilling.png

So when the series started I was confused because I totally forgot that Piper got out of jail the last season. Well, in this season we see her trying to adjust to the outside world. It’s been an interesting journey with Piper because in the very beginning I found her super annoying, but as the show progressed and we stopped focusing on her as much she became more tolerable.

Honestly seeing her on the outside was nice, it was good to see her getting things back on track. I liked that she was able to make a new friend in Zelda and the relationship they shared, I just wished that they had been able to keep it platonic tbh.

All in all though I am super glad she ended up with Alex, I totally cried when I saw that Piper had chosen her. I mean there’s always one couple that is End Game on a TV show and Alex and Piper were it. Can’t complain.

Alex

large.jpg

Okay so Alex has always been just an okay character for me, and I felt like this season she was kind of dull…

I mean sure she was doing the phone charger selling thing but it was repetitive and nothing exciting ever really happened with it. Except for the McCullough thing, I kind of saw it coming but I wish it didn’t happen. Only because Alex should have been trying to stay faithful to Piper. I do wish good things for McCullough she’s been through a lot.

Anyway, like I said above, I’m glad she and Piper are working it out even though she got transferred.

Nicky

orange-is-the-new-black-nicky-750x522

Oh Nicky, she been through so much. She was always one of my favourites.

My heart breaks for her because things were falling apart towards the end. Nicky herself was fine but I mean with Red and Lorna it was not good and she was trying to take over the role of mother but it wasn’t really working.

Plus she didn’t even get her love! The girl she was seeing was deported and that was sad too. I needed her to have one win this season but she wasn’t getting any. She did have her moments but still…sad.

Then at the end they were showing the cast saying goodbye and they showed her saying her lines and she was crying and I was crying and I’m gonna miss her so much.

Suzanne

SuzanneNew.png

Love her. Don’t have much else to say.

She has always been the ray of sunshine in an otherwise depressing episode. And then she got to be mayor of the chicken coop and it was adorable.

So yay Suzanne.

Taystee

oitnb-7x04-taystee.jpg

Taystee went THROUGH IT this season.

I was confused about what was going on with her at the beginning of the season because I didn’t remember last season at all but I pieced it together as the season went on.

I can’t believe she was going to take her own life – I know everyone is upset that the episode didn’t give a warning when they showed her suicide attempt – I was shocked too because I thought as we saw the set up for it we weren’t going to see the actual attempt. It was heartbreaking.

Luckily, Taystee didn’t die and remained throughout the season. I’m so glad that there was always someone there or a reason to pull her back.

And the last reason, the memory with Poussey – I LOST IT. Honestly, the show was playing with my emotions this season, bringing back old characters just so we could be emotional all over again. My heart.

I loved that Taystee was able to make a foundation in Poussey’s name, it was deserved.

Pennsatucky

7.jpg

Like all the other characters, Pennsatucky has grown a lot since the first season.

I liked seeing her relationship with Suzanne grow when they were put in Florida together. It was cute.

In this season I liked that she was trying to get her GED and was engaged with the teacher. It was great, things were going well for her…

So it BROKE ME when she died. SHE PASSED HER GED EXAM SHE COULD HAVE HELD OUT I WAS SO MAD. I feel like this is the one reason why I wanted to make this blog post – just to let y’all know this wasn’t cute and I just couldn’t believe that it was happening…

SHE DESERVED BETTER. But it happens I guess…still so sad.

Cindy

OITNB.png

I don’t have a lot to say about her other than I’m sad that her and Taystee never made amends. I am also sad that she ended up living on the streets because of Taystee’s letter but I guess I’m glad she was able to make things better for herself and was making things right for her daughter. We love reformed inmates.

Daya

Dascha_Polanco_insert_courtesy_Netflix.jpg

I was not expecting her to be the one that killed ‘Daddy’. Also kind of glad that ‘Daddy’ wasn’t gonna stick around this season because I always thought that whole storyline was kind of crazy.

But it’s also crazy that Daya went all gangster and took over the drug operation. She never really suited that role and I am sad that she went from this young woman who had a cute relationship with that guard to a drug addict/dealer. Yikes. (Also side note remember when that guard literally just disappeared and we never heard from him again – what was up with that? – Like I know the dude went on to be on How To Get Away With Murder but he could have come back for like one episode at least???)

Anyway, yeah wasn’t expecting Daya to be a gang leader though I feel like she gets a lot of help from that one girl who’s name I can’t remember. I was expecting more drama from it but then I guess there wasn’t really anyone else selling drugs…until Aleida ended up back in jail lol.

Joe Caputo

oitnb4-episodio-final-caputo-revela-la-verdad

He was always a good guy. I don’t remember what happened with that girl who exposed him for sexually harassing her but at least Joe eventually realised that he was in the wrong. I always feel like he means well but it takes him a while to realise that not all his ideas are good ones.

I like his relationship with Fig and I’m glad they were still together. They balance each other out.

It’s also great that Joe was helping the inmates again – it’s cute that he still wanted to be involved.

Lorna

Lorna-Morello-.jpg

Lorna definitely wasn’t handling things well as the season went on. I mean my heart just broke for her losing the baby and also possibly her husband…

I would have liked to see her get out of prison and live a happy life with her husband – I think she deserved that.

Red

0b4ae4b47f08c3b7beb2b75bc7027b30.jpg

Again. Heartbroken.

Seeing Red lose her memory is so sad. I wanted more for her, she was always a fighter. But I guess it doesn’t always turn out that way. It hurts a lot to think that it took everyone so long to notice. :/

And so this brings us to the end of my thoughts – I know I’ve missed some people but I felt like I didn’t need to say much about them. Or I have forgotten lol.

I’m still sad that a lot of things have been left open-ended – I mean we don’t know for sure what happened to a lot of people and so it was left up to us to interpret what happened. I mean I suppose it’s not the worst thing but sometimes you just want solid endings for people.

Now that the show is done I can add it to the list of things I will probably rewatch in the future. I think it would be good to rewatch the whole thing and binge-watch properly to see the full timeline, because so much has happened it’s hard to remember – especially if it happened before the riot.

But yeah, I guess it’s time to move on to other TV shows…if you have any suggestions leave them below!

Currently Watching: September 2018

2018-09-07_1847

I want to add a currently watching section to the blog, kind of like my currently reading one for Goodreads but it doesn’t give me the option to add a widget, so I’m going to make blog posts every so often.

I am currently at a point where I am looking for some new shows to watch, this usually happens when one of my shows ends but it takes me ages to find a new show that I like so for now, I am rewatching a couple of shows.

gilmore-girls-wallpapers-31573-3615852.jpg

The first one being Gilmore Girls. This show is very chill and something that is nice to throw on when you’re just chilling and want something on in the background. I only watched the show for the first time at the start of this year and I don’t know why it took me so long to get into it because I love it. The Netflix spin-off…not so much.

maxresdefault

The next show I am rewatching is the Vampire Diaries! The reason why I am rewatching this is that it has been a couple years since the show ended and I miss it. Another reason why I am rewatching is to finally watch the Originals.

The Originals is a spinoff of the Vampire Diaries that started around season 3/4 of Vampire Diaries about the Original vampires, the reason why I didn’t watch it while Vampire Diaries was still airing was that I felt like it was too much of the same world to watch every week so I stuck with Vampire Diaries.

My plan is to watch Vampire Diaries up until the point where the spinoff starts and watch that. Then I will probably go back to the Vampire Diaries because there is another spinoff coming for it very soon I believe which I am very excited about because who doesn’t need a little more of Mystic Falls in their life?

suits-s8

Aside from shows I am rewatching, there are also shows I am watching that are still airing such as Suits. The new season started a couple of months ago and I am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

I felt like it would be weird without Mike and Rachel but so far the new season has been really good.

Other shows which I am watching which are still airing are Riverdale and Dynasty, both of which do not return until October.

cable-girls-s3

And the last show that I am watching is Cable Girls, also known as Las chicas del cable which is a Spanish drama on Netflix which is English dubbed. I found this last year and I was hooked right away. I just discovered that season 3 has been released to Netflix so you know I will be binge-watching this as soon as possible.

Those are all the shows I am currently watching, I look forward to the return of Dynasty and Riverdale to give me other things to look forward to weekly. In the meantime, I am more than happy to be rewatching some old shows because then I don’t have to stress about finding some new ones.

If you have any suggestions for shows I might like then feel free to leave them in the comments below.

My Thoughts on Orange is the New Black Season 6

orange.jpg

The new season of Orange is the New Black dropped a last week, so naturally, I binge-watched the whole thing.

I enjoyed this season, I think this has been one of the most enjoyable seasons to watch. I felt last season’s riot was really dragged out and from what I remember before then I wasn’t really into gangster Piper or the brief appearance of Ruby Rose.

This season brought the ladies of Litchfield down to MAX. A place we heard lots about but didn’t know anything other than it was horrible.

But I have to say that halfway through the season I was thinking they don’t have it that bad in there. I mean they’re still allowed to roam around pretty freely and get library books and commissary. Even yard games and an aerobic class.

So MAX is basically the same as what they had before but with cells and less freedom in jobs.

Plus this season the guards seem to pay basically no attention to the inmates. At the start, before they were moved to GenPop the guards were harsh. They were abusing the inmates they believed to have caused the riot. But that soon stops it seems and we just begin to see the guards less in general.

Then there was the Fantasy Inmate thing. Which again kind of fizzled. I wasn’t really that interested in it but at least we got to know more about the new guards.

The new guards aren’t really anything special.

I did like that Luschek really embraced his role as an aerobics teacher. That was fun.

And then there was McCullough who was struggling with PTSD after the riot. I wish they had shown more of her and her struggle because it was hardly shown. I mean we saw her in the toilets burning cigarettes into her leg but it never went anywhere. I need more on this.

The only other guard worth mentioning is the one who was dating Aleida. I don’t remember his name. Can’t believe he was willing to smuggle drugs into the prison for Aleida. Not really sure where that will go, well actually I know in the end Aleida is gonna dump him because she’s only using him so she can smuggle the drugs. I don’t think she’s actually in love with him.

Speaking of Aleida, let’s talk about the inmates. First of all, I don’t understand why they focus so much on Aleida. She was really annoying. I guess they needed her because she still has a connection to prison because of Daya but also the drug thing. Either way, I probably could have done with seeing less of her.

Another inmate who was on the outside of a while was Pennsatucky. I totally forgot she escaped last season with Coates. I never liked their relationship but it was nice to see her on the outside having fun. And I think it was smart of her to turn herself in again in the end, I was wondering if they were going to notice she was missing.

I wish they had shown Coates again though when he woke up in the forest and Pennsatucky was just gone. I mean who knows what happened to him? Is he gonna disappear from the show like Bennett did? Because I ain’t about that, I need closure.

Next, we’ll talk about Frieda, who conned her way into Florida for protection. She was very paranoid. I mean it makes sense, you were in MAX once before and screwed over the two biggest mob members and so obviously people are out for revenge. But at the same time, it wasn’t very interesting, I just felt bad for Suzanne as she was being used.

Okay, now we can talk about C and D block. It took me most of the series to figure out the difference and I’m still not sure if I do. But basically, we have two sisters Carol and Barb who each runs their own block. The two sisters have had rivalry ever since arriving at Litchfield.

I thought their story was interesting. Two sisters who originally conspired to kill their younger sister together grew to hate each other. I wish there was more backstory. But I guess that’s all the backstory you need?

So the whole season is building up for this big fight between C and D block which is spearheaded by the two sisters. And you think it’s going to be really dramatic but it actually turns into everyone just playing kickball.

Meanwhile, the two sisters are nowhere to be seen at the fight as they have snuck off together to try and get into Florida. I was actually surprised by this, I didn’t see it coming.

Sadly, their plan fails as they begin to fight each other instead. I suppose I wasn’t too surprised that the two ended up killing each other, as you could see that’s where it was heading. But I am sad it had to end this way. Of all the new characters, they were definitely the most interesting. I mean they built these two up so much through the whole season just to have it end this way…tragic.

So I guess we won’t know any more about them in the new season, and Freida can rest easy at night.

Another new character who I thought was really interesting was Daddy. Yes, that’s the name she goes by and I don’t think she’s ever called anything else. I thought she had an interesting backstory and I hope we see more of that. She was Barb’s right-hand woman and the supplier of drugs for D Block. She also plays the love interest to Daya, who becomes addicted to the drugs Daddy gives her to deal with the pain she suffers from being abused by the guards.

Daya changed pretty quickly this season, giving into the drug addiction and getting her mom to help her sneak drugs into prison. Didn’t think she was going to be the type, but I suppose prison makes you do things you didn’t think you would do. I didn’t really know what to think of her relationship with Daddy, but I know it’s only happening because Daya is lonely. Can’t see it lasting long but I guess we see.

It’s also weird to see Daya acting like a thug, again she doesn’t seem like the type. Then again, neither did Piper when she was running that panty business but anyway…

Other people in D Block, we had Nicky and Lorna. We didn’t see very much of Lorna, but we know she is pregnant and doing okay for herself, keeping out of trouble. Sort of. When Nicky joined Barb’s gang as a sober companion, Lorna kind of got drafted in too. She was willing to fight even though she was pregnant. Luckily, Nicky kept her safe…

Or did she? While everyone else is out playing kickball, it looks like Lorna goes into labour. Although we could see there was blood on her clothes, so I’m going to take a guess and say the baby doesn’t make it.

Which I don’t think Lorna will be able to handle.

I wish we had seen more of Lorna and also see her husband visit her. I felt like of all the people to have visitors, she definitely would have them. Because I kept wondering if he was visiting her during the whole pregnancy thing, I like to think he did even if they didn’t show it.

I found Nicky to be a bit annoying this season. Not sure why though. I mean I enjoyed watching her try to stop Barb from attacking C Block because she wanted to protect Red. But other than that, I don’t know, there was something about her that bothered me.

Oh! And there was the radio show with Cindy and Flaca, again something I wanted more of just because it was interesting. But Cindy was going through her own issues because of her lying about the riot and causing trouble for Taystee’s trial.

Poor Taystee, she was taking the blame for the whole riot due to her fellow inmates ratting her out and she was determined to fight for the truth. I thought it was brave of her to step up, but after everything, we know she just wanted justice for Poussey. I was so sad to find out that she lost the trial. I had hope that maybe she would win by some miracle but looking at the facts, there wasn’t a chance she would have won.

I think it was nice to see Caputo fight for her though. I mean it’s great Caputo was still willing to fight the good fight after everything that happened. And I have to admit, he and Fig are cute together.

Moving on to C Block, we had Badison… I don’t know what to say to her other than she’s probably the worst new character. I first I thought she would be interesting, she had some kind of reputation but honestly, she’s just annoying. Her backstory wasn’t even that great. Wasn’t really sure what her deal was with Piper other than she didn’t like Piper taking charge of kickball. I don’t know. She wasn’t my favourite.

Then Piper and Alex. As usual, Piper really annoyed me, I mean her being worried about Alex while everyone else is trying to cover themselves from the riot. Typical Piper. I suppose she was pretty quiet this season other than talking about her wedding to Alex and the kickball thing. But still doesn’t make me like her more.

I did think it was cute she had her prison wedding with Alex before her release. If anything it gave me hope for the relationship. I did think Piper was gonna get annoyed that Alex was going behind the scenes to get Madison to stop bullying her and that was gonna be the end but they made it through.

That being said, I wonder how the relationship will go with Piper on the outside and Alex on the inside. I mean Alex is getting involved with the gang, and Piper isn’t a fan but Piper has never been able to control Alex. Meanwhile, Piper will have her freedom again and I wonder how she will adjust back to normal life.

I feel like Piper will very easily cope on the outside. But will she keep coming back to visit her wife? I think she will, plus she’ll probably want to get more opinions on the memoir she’s writing.

Alex will probably still do the mob thing if it means she’ll be protected. Though after kickball and the death of the C and D Block leaders I don’t know if the rivalry and gangs will continue. But at the same time, gangs usually form in the prison and I imagine Daddy and Badison will keep the gangs alive. I can already tell Daddy will probably be a better leader than Badison. But I guess we see.

I think the only other person to talk about is Red. I felt bad for her being thrown under the bus by everyone else. She has done so much for the other girls and they just turned on her. But she soon fell in with Carol’s gang with the intent of taking down Frieda. I feel like because Red had nothing left she was just spending all her energy on Frieda.

Though I thought it was out of character for Red to just attack Frieda on her way to visitation, especially when she was about to see her grandchildren for the first time. I guess her rage took over when she saw Frieda, causing her to act out.

I wonder what this will mean for Red when she comes out of the SHU…I imagine her family will not forgive her for missing the visitation. But I think there is potential for her to come back and help Lorna deal with the baby situation. Or she’ll come back and be a gang boss because we know she’s good at being a leader. There are endless possibilities.

I think the only other thing to mention is Blanca not being able to get her early release. I think Blanca was one of those characters who is always overlooked. But this time, we were kind of excited for her because she wanted to get out of prison and start a family with her boyfriend. She was so close to being free too.

It was really just the moment when Diablo was standing there with the flowers and he didn’t see her. It was heartbreaking.

And so I think that wraps up all of the things that I wanted to say on the new season of Orange is the New Black. I feel like I am probably missing some things but these are the things that stuck out to me or I felt like I needed to mention.

I am excited about next season to see where it goes. Though I don’t imagine we will be seeing many more seasons after this with Piper being released from prison, after all, the whole series is based on a memoir written by Piper. So with her no longer being in prison it kind of makes you wonder when the end will be.

Either way, I’m interested to see where we go from here and how everything will wrap up. I always hope for a happy ending but with this kind of show, I feel there will be happy endings but also sad ones for some people. So I guess we wait and see who will be treated well and who won’t.

In the meantime I am going to have to find some other shows to fill the void now that I have to wait yet another year for a new Orange is the New Black season. If you have any recommendations, let me know.
